How does Nexgard Combo work?
NexGard Combo topical treatment contains esafoxolaner, eprinomectin and praziquantel as its active ingredients. After application, this topical treatment is absorbed into the cat's system, protecting from both internal and external parasites.
Esafoxolaner induces hyperexcitation in parasites, causing uncontrolled activity in their nervous system, leading to the death of insects and acarines. Eprinomectin increases the permeability of the cell membranes, triggering hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cells in susceptible parasites and killing them. Praziquantel causes muscular paralysis in treated tapeworms and disrupts their tegument.
How effective is NexGard Combo?
According to a well-controlled lab study referenced in the product label, NexGard Combo killed over 90% of fleas within 24 hours. It demonstrated more than 90% efficacy against tick species 72 hours post-infestation for a month, according to other lab studies.
