How to Use Nuheart - Generic Heartgard for Dogs

  • Weigh your dog to select the appropriate dosage.
  • Nuheart tablet should be given orally once every month. Administer it preferably on the same date or within a few days of the same date.
  • Remove a tablet from the pack.
  • Place the tablet on top of the dog's tongue on the back of its throat. Push the tablet down the throat with your index finger.
  • For fussy dogs, it can be dissolved in a small quantity of water (5-10 ml) or other fluid of your pet's choice.
  • This heartworm preventive tablet can also be mixed into the dog's feed. Ensure the dog takes the complete dose. If a part of the dose is missed, give another full dose.
  • When you miss the treatment by 7 or fewer days, administer one tablet and resume with monthly dosing. If more than one month has elapsed between doses, consult a veterinarian before redosing.

This heartworm preventive is not effective against adult heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis). Before beginning the treatment with Nuheart, dogs should be tested for existing heartworms and infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms at the discretion of a veterinarian. It is not suitable for dogs and puppies younger than six weeks of age.
