Eliminall Spot-on Treatment for Dogs

Eliminall Spot On is a Pfizer product that has been invented to treat and prevent flea and tick infestations in dogs. It lasts for 4 weeks against fleas and acaricidal efficacy for a maximum of 4 weeks against Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus. Even ticks get destroyed within 48 hours of administration. But if the tick species Dermacentor reticulatus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus are present while applying the treatment then all ticks may not get killed within the first 48 hours of administration but they might get killed within a week's time. It is recommended for puppies and dogs older than 2 months and weighing more than 4 lbs. in body weight. It can even be used as a part of treatment strategy for Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) in dogs.

How it works?

Eliminall Spot On is formulated with Fipronil, an insecticide that kills adult fleas and ticks before they have any chance of laying eggs thus preventing re-infestation. It paralyzes the brain of these pesky parasites thus resulting in total damage. This ingredient lasts for a maximum of 2 months but for safety reasons, it is recommended to administer it on a monthly basis. It comes in 3 or 6 pipette sizes. It kills all the prevailing adult fleas in the environment within 24 hours of administration and ticks within 48 hours. It also works effectively in treating and preventing lice.

Direction

  • Weigh your doggy properly and then select the pipette size according to his body weight
  • Take out the pipette from the triple bag
  • Grasp the pipette in an upright position and then turn and propel the cap
  • Turn the cap around and keep the other tip of the cap back on the pipette
  • Use power to turn the cap and break open the seal and then get rid off the cap from the pipette
  • Apply the treatment on the hair of the dog in the area between the shoulder blades in such a way that you can see visible skin
  • Keep the tip of the pipette on the dog's skin and compress the unit-dose pipette several times so that the entire content gets empty at a single or multiple spots on the skin
  • The treatment needs to be administered in such a way that it cannot be licked by the doggy
  • The treatment needs to be administered after parting the hair
  • There might be some temporary changes in the dog's coat like greasy or clumped hair coupled with deposits on the hair at the application site but that would not last long
  • After applying the treatment, let the application site completely dry out before allowing the dog to mingle with other pets and children

Safety

  • After administration of the treatment ensure that the dog does not go near water or bath at least for couple of days
  • Administer the treatment in such a way that the pet cannot lick it
  • Do not allow children and other pets to play with the treated pet till the application site completely dries out
  • Care should be taken to ensure that the treatment does not enter in the eyes of the dog. In case by accident it enters the eyes of the dog then rinse the eyes with running water. If the irritation in the eyes persist then take him to the veterinarian
  • If your pooch is wounded or has damaged skin then do not administer this treatment on him at that particular spot
  • Intended to be used for external use only
  • Keep the product in original packaging so that it remains shielded from light and moisture
  • The doggy should be kept away from the product in such a way that it does not have any contact with his eyes or mouth because it can cause mucous membrane and eye irritation
  • Ticks can still attach to the body of the dog after application of this treatment. If the dog has been treated prior to the exposure to the ticks, they will get killed within 24 to 48 hours after administration of the treatment. This will reduce the chances of disease since the parasite will not have the chance to gorge the blood of the pet. Once dead, the ticks will fall off from the doggy. If still there are any ticks remaining, they can be removed with a gentle pull.

Contraindications

  • If your canine is hypersensitive to Fipronil then do not administer this spot on treatment on him
  • This treatment is intended to be applied on dogs. If administered on cats it can lead to overdosing
  • Not recommended for puppies younger than 2 months of age and weighing less than 4 lbs. bodyweight
  • Administering this treatment on sick or convalescent dogs is not recommended
  • If this treatment is administered on rabbits it can result in adverse reactions in the animal and in some worst cases can even cause death
